Emergency HVAC Repair in Des Plaines, IL

What Counts as an HVAC Emergency

An HVAC emergency is anything that threatens your comfort, safety, or property right now. In summer, that's a cooling system that won't run during a heat wave. In winter, it's no heat when temperatures are dangerous — especially for homes with young children, older adults, or medical equipment that depends on stable temperatures.

It's also an emergency when water is actively leaking from your system onto floors or ceilings, or when your system is making sounds or smells that suggest a failing component. When in doubt, call — it costs nothing to describe what's happening and find out how urgent it is.

• No heat during freezing weather
• No cooling during a heat wave
• Burning smells or electrical odors
• Active water leaks from the system
• Loud banging, grinding, or screeching
• System completely won't start

What to Do Before We Arrive

While you wait for the technician, a few quick checks can sometimes solve the problem — and always help us diagnose faster. Confirm the thermostat is set correctly and has power, check that the circuit breaker for the HVAC system hasn't tripped, and make sure the air filter isn't completely clogged.

If you ever smell gas, don't wait for us — leave the house and call your gas provider immediately. For everything else, keep the system off if it's making harsh noises or smells, and we'll take it from there. You'll hear the cost before any emergency work begins.
